Drupal 5.0 beta 1 released!
Drupal 5.0 beta1 has been announced.
"It comes with many new features, including a web-based install system, improved administration tools, and a shiny new theme! There are also tons of under-the-hood improvements, such as the inclusion of the jQuery JavaScript library, node access system improvements (ACL), and many improvements to the Form API."

Jeff Han on TED Talks
I had seen a couple of innovative user interfaces but this one blew me away.
In this video of a TED Talks session, Jeff Han demonstrates his intuitive, "interface-free," touch-driven computer screen, which can be manipulated intuitively with the fingertips, and responds to varying levels of pressure.

Meet Garland, Drupal's new official theme (5.0)!
The battle to create and choose a new default theme for Drupal 5.0 has come to an end, with a collaboration by Stefan Nagtegaal and Steven Wittens claiming the prize. The Garland theme, named after the actress, features a color picker that allows you to completely change the color scheme of the theme. Demo site: http://tinyurl.com/y4to2k

Adobe Releases Cool Light -Weight PDF Reader
Adobe Digital Editions is built on the Flash platform. Adobe's solution will work on Windows, Mac OS/X and Linux. Perhaps the biggest difference though is the range of content the Adobe product supports - PDF (obviously), XHTML, and Flask SWF for rich content.

Over 2 million Firefox 2 downloads in first 24 hours
Firefox developer Mike Beltzner blogs about the success of Firefox 2's launch, which had over 2 million downloads in the first 24 hours of Tuesday's release and a peak download rate of more than 30 downloads per second.
