The term "kung fu" was made popular in the west in the 60's and 70's by the boom of Chinese martial arts movies and movie stars, especially the legendary Bruce Lee. Most people think that "kung fu" is a single martial art but the term is actually used to refer to the whole universe of Chinese martial arts, of which there are hundreds.
