Wordpress 2.5

Wordpress 2.5 is out. Looks like it has a bunch of new stuff on multiple categories, like multi-file uploading and one-click plugin upgrades, in the make-my-life-easier section, the salted passwords and cookie encryption, on the security front, or the just plain cool stuff, like built-in photo galleries, customizable dashboard, a media library, a WYSIWYG editor that doesn’t mess up your code, concurrent post editing protection, and full-screen editing. Yeah, I’m a Drupal user but for a simple site with just a blog and a few simple pages (and now, apparently, even a photo gallery) which doesn’t need a lot of complex customization, Wordpress is pretty good - above all because it’s so simple to use. »

Scientific Atlanta Webstar 2203c - how to access locked pages

UPDATE Aug 30 2010: you may also be interested in my Arris password of the day generator. In my new house, my ISP (Cabovisão) installed a new cable modem, a Scientific Atlanta Webstar 2203c. It’s a stupid modem. Really stupid. If I unplug the ethernet cable (or the USB cable, which I don’t use) and plug it into another computer, the modem has to be reset so it can adapt to the new hardware - these were the words from the tech support guy, not mine. »

AboutUs.org - great idea and great privacy invasion

I just received a text message from Cláudia, suggesting a name for our company and I immediately tried to register the domain name - no luck, it’s already taken. Since it’s not being used, I accessed the whois page of the registrar, to see if there was any possibility of buying the domain back. That’s when I noticed something new on the page: a link to AboutUs.org with info on the site. »
