I just received a text message from Cláudia, suggesting a name for our company and I immediately tried to register the domain name - no luck, it’s already taken. Since it’s not being used, I accessed the whois page of the registrar, to see if there was any possibility of buying the domain back. That’s when I noticed something new on the page: a link to AboutUs.org with info on the site. »

As usual, Microsoft is getting the credits for something other people have already created in the past. Microsoft’s “Surface” is getting a lot of atention, lately. Why didn’t other similar products that have been created long before get the same kind of attention? For example, BumpTop. Or even another project I found a couple of years ago that basicaly did exactly the same as Microsoft’s Surface on the demonstration video - and I mean exactly the same thing. »

From Slashdot: After all the fuss over the AACS trying to censor a certain 128-bit number that now has something over two million hits on Google, the folks at Freedom to Tinker would like to point out that you too can own your own integer. They've set up a script that will generate a random number, encrypt a copyrighted haiku with it, and then deed the number back to you. You won't get a copyright on the number or the haiku, but your number has become an illegal circumvention device under the DMCA, such that anyone subject to US law caught distributing it can be punished under the DMCA's anti-trafficking section, for which the DMCA's Safe Harbor provisions do not apply. »

Contra o fumo passivo a nova lei vai reduzir ainda mais os locais onde se pode fumar livremente. A lei vai impor a proibição de fumar nos locais de trabalho. Ressalva no entanto a possibilidade das empresas criarem locais específicos para se poder fumar sem afectar os colegas de trabalho. »
